Interactive Games for Kids

“Teachers around the world use Starfall.com and Starfall high-quality educational products as an inexpensive way to make the classroom more fun and inspire a love of reading and writing”

http://www.starfall.com/ is a great web site for all students to use.  This interactive web site has games students can play that will help to reinforce learning in the area of reading.  This web site can be set up on any classroom computer and used as a part of a center or for fun.  This web site also teaches students about the calendar, Earth Day, ground hog day and other important facts that students learn about in class. This is a great tool to reinforce learning and to promote good reading skills in a fun and interactive way.

Hope this is useful.

  1. I think that starfall is a great resource to us as future teacehrs. I think that today it is so important to integrate technology into the classroom. Children are growing up in a society that is based on advances in technology. I think that through using this website teachers can integrate computer use in the classroom. It is even better to know that it is inexpensive and a way to keep students engaged. In order to keep students excited to learn we have to keep an open mind to new ideas about education. Thank you for this excellent resource!

  2. Starfall seems like a great tool to use in the classroom. We talk about learning is intertwined with interest and imagination. This site can serve as an alternative way to help students in reading and writing. By assigning numerous mundane homework assignments, students will tend to get bored, but with this resource, students can escape the environment of school, and make learning a leisure activity.

  4. What a fun website!!! I think that the site would be an excellent tool for the classroom. It would work perfectly with units that deal with Earth day, or Hog day, so that students are able to better understand the meaning of these, and other, events. I think that the website can also be used as a center where students are able to play the various games on the site and test their knowledge by taking the various quizzes found within it. As a future educator I hope to use this website to enhance my teaching and engage students.

  5. This is a great site. I have seen it in action and the kids really respond to it. I was observing an SDC class about a month ago, and one of the centers was using the computers to run this website. It's great because it highlights the words as it is read to the child, helping them to follow along. I've noticed it is great for english learners as well. It allows them to become comfortable with simple words and enriches their ability to identify those words later on.
