Project GLAD, which stands for guided language acquisition design, is a program that uses new strategies to help promote literacy in the classroom. The strategies involve a lot of visual learning. The strategy aims to incorporate language arts: speaking, listening, reading, and writing across the curriculum. It focuses on the importance of promoting literacy development in all areas of the classroom. I have had the opportunity to see a demonstration of Project GLAD and I thought it was a very unique and fun way to incorporate literacy in the classroom, as well as fully engage the students in what is being learned. The website offers information about Project GLAD, and about training for the program. It also lists upcoming events, and contact information for the program.
